Jaguarundi

By | Fashion

Jaguarundi’s mission is to promote Latin American handicrafts that meet high quality manufacture encouraging
new generations of artisans and designers
to seek inspiration in the traditional skills
through innovative design.

We believe that all our Latin American ancestors shared a land without borders and were united by their culture and traditional skills.

JAGUARUNDI is a creative collage of weaving traditions with a twist of freshness that re ects our ideogram of: “LATIN AMERICA UNITED”

Combining handicrafts with innovative Latin American design, Jaguarundi’s mission is to create a land without borders, united by a common thread.

A New York-based family-run startup with a workshop in Venezuela and an artisan network spread throughout Latin America, Jaguarundi is a rare beast. A wildcat by name, the brand has searched high and low for the best handcrafted accessories in Venezuela, Panamá,
Colombia, Perú, Guatemala and México, salvaging and re-contectualizing traditional techniques to be recreated in their workshop or sourced directly from local manufacturers.

Run by Helmi Mannil and her children Federika, a graphic designer, and Martin Felipe,
an entrepreneur, Jaguarundi has some excellent DNA at its disposal: Helmi’s mother worked very closely with the Wayúu tribe, a nomad people who moved in the Peninsula de
la Güajira, located in Colombia and Venezuela establishing workshops and promoting their deep knowledge of handicrafts from one generation to the next, while her parents were eccentric adventurers and big time collectors, who passed on their restless spirit and excellent taste.

The Jaguarundi product range currently consists of stunning jewelry, intricate bags, delicate hats, heart-stoppingly beautiful hammocks, elaborate baskets and an up-coming clothing line, made with a variety of weaving traditions that re ect the cultural wealth of the brand’s Latin American roots, with a fresh twist!

We can only guess what’s going to happen when they nally open their digital doors
to the rest of the world!
